If you don't LOVE it don't buy it

Yall know when that basket is full and you look at your friend like, What should I get? A whole bunch of clothes in the closet already that have only been worn once, if that. It's okay to walk out of the store with nothing.

Be Picky

In church today, they said to pick your relationships (friends & partners) like you pick your shoes. PICKY ASF. Add Virgo's indecisiveness and we are never going anywhere.

We are too good to just buy anything and everything we see. Money or no money, spending money represents what you see worth in. Just as I am learning to navigate what articles I give more energy to, just because 'do the math' says I will never have enough time to fully read all of them, I have to do that with people. Sometimes we want things. They check off the boxes we've been missing. So we buy it. We wear it a little and that's it. You return to your closet and realize what you once liked about the shoes has passed. So, it takes love to make it worthwhile. Love the look, comfort, way it fits on YOU, and price. One time at Nordstrom, I found these short heels that were soooo cute. My mom raised me only to buy things on sale but even she knew they fit me. I bought it at full price and I haven't unloved them since. So, how do we know what we love in real life? Well like everything else, give it to God.

Pray about it

One Thanksgiving at Canal St. in NY, Ari and I bought these Cartier rings. For only $25, I had people thinking I had moneyyy lol. When it looked like it came with a scratch I wasn't able to take it back to the Cartier store.

There's no warranty on relationships you didn't get through prayer.

Some things in life we can't return. Bettering my relationship with God, I think about situations I was in. I never prayed about them. God never guided me into them so of course I'm lost about leaving them. In undergrad, I prayed so much about my next move. With trust, I ended up in a PhD program. Praying to God to give me confidence in these new rooms. Then one day my supervisor said:

You are here because you are supposed to be here.

Ooof God was talking to me through her. Imma be better about giving everything to God first. So, when I come to him, his response is as clear as someone saying it to you (me being really optimistic). Pray then choose. Then pray some more. It's hard to accept that not everyone is meant for you. Sometimes it's not you walking out of a dark room, maybe there is light and that still isn't God's purpose. My new lockscreen is THE BEST OR NOTHING. I deserve everything. Plus I'm 23, what I look like buying anything. Someone play '23' by Jacquees. One can't afford it and two I have the patience to spend on a big trip one of these breaks.

So

let's normalize letting things we like sit on the shelf. Love it or don't buy it. Your credit score and time will thank me then thank the big man.

Also,

p.s. God doesn't just give us our prayers, he gives up opportunities to get them. Opportunities for patience, confidence, real friends, and love. So, be ready because we want to be mature enough for the opportunity and for the next one after that.

Xoxo, 2024 me, love it or don't buy it, season 1 episode 1, and losing the dramatics but it sure is an opportunity for greatness...16th week PhD student
