During finals, I was also planning my mom's 50th surprise birthday party. She does everything and more for everyone. This was just a small gesture of our appreciation and celebration of her life. No lie, I am still exhausted as I type this. So this week's blog I am not gonna share what I learned or even vent. I am gonna do a little vicarious learning from a woman in her fifties.

The entrance to my mom's party had posters that went from baby to present. She said that seeing those pictures reminded her so much of how she felt about herself then and how much it changed. There are always moments to learn, even if it isn't happening to us.

Here is a list of lessons I pulled from this article below.

Lessons (no order and not full list)

  • Old is a relative term and your spirit determines how old you feel.

  • Say no. Don't waste time thinking or making excuses for things you don't want to do.

  • Your time is important. Spend it where you want it.

  • Make time for you every day. Even if it is 10 minutes. You deserve it.

  • Take a vitamin. Every day.

  • Go to the movies by yourself or even have a meal out. It is so liberating. You can do it!

  • Love your work. It's never too late to start something new. Let your passion lead you.

  • Everyone will not like you. That is not your problem. Move on. It's their loss.

  • Dance like no one is watching as often as you can.
